Buffalo Zoo

Dear friends,

many thanks for staying with me despite the extended breaks I take between posting. Today I share with you a few pictures from the zoo. Susan and I both like animals, so naturally we spared one of the oldest (and smallest) Zoo's in the US a visit during our stay. Thanks to the time of the year, the animals were even somewhat entertained with the Valentine's Day presents you can spot in the pictures. Undoubtedly the otters were especially happy with their boiled eggs, but the tiger decided to carry his heart full of meat away to chew it in peace and unmolested by the cameras. It was a nice day, but much more so for the company than for zoo. I guess that was it between Buffalo and me.

Buffalo

Dear Readers,

I hope my lines find you well. If you have ever had hot wings, Buffalo might mean something to you in terms of sauce. Otherwise, it is quite a boring town that only benefits from being close to the Niagara Falls and handling Canadian immigration issues (yes, that is correct, out of the US, who knows who came up with such a brilliant idea). But when I met Susan in Buffalo, we also found one nice building - the M & T Center. It took us a while to find, but in the meantime I took pictures of two famous monuments that you would naturally expect in two other US cities. For your entertainment they are slightly hidden in the first two pictures.

Winterwalk by the three Lakes in St.Gallen

Liebe Leser,

nach so vielen schönen Eindrücken aus Zürich konnten Hans und ich an diesem Abend froh und glücklich nach St.Gallen zurückkehren. Als am nächsten Nachmittag die Sonne wieder so schön schien, haben wir auch noch einen Winterspaziergang an den 3 Weihern gemacht. An diese Naturschutz-Schwimmbad-Kombination könnt ihr Euch vielleicht noch erinnern, denn es gibt auch Bilder von dort im Sommer. Wie ihr auf dem Bild unten link sehen könnt, war das 1m-Brett abgeschraubt und der See friedlich zugefroren. Allerdings nicht komplett, sonst hätte ich dieses Bild wohl mit 45 Schlittschuhläufern teilen müssen. So teile ich es viel lieber mit Euch!

Meeting Mattu at the Lake of Zurich

Liebe Leser,

meinen Enthusiasmus über das Treffen mit guten alten Freunden in Zürich konnte ich in den letzten Posts wohl kaum verbergen. Als sich auch noch Mattu am Nachmittag zu einem Spaziergang entlang des Zurichsee's dazugesellte, war die kleine Gruppe noch um ein photogenes Gesicht reicher. Auf dem Photo erkennt ihr hoffentlich mich, Tanya, Philipp, Hans und Mattu (v.l.n.r.). Besonders schön war der Blick an diesem Sonnentag auf die hinter dem Zürichsee aufragenden Berge. Zusätzliches Glück hatte ich, dass mir ein Znappschuss mit zwei Sonnen gelungen ist, den ich sehr gerne mit Euch teile.

Lunch with Philipp and Tanya

Dear readers,

I hope my lines once again may find you very well. In the last but one post I showed you the beautiful pictures from the road trip to Zurich. Well, once we arrived it became even more beautiful. Tanya and Philipp had prepared lunch for us and so we enjoyed the long overdue reunion in the sunflooded atrium of Tanya's new place, overlooking the lake of Zurich. More about the lake will follow shortly, right now I am happy dwelling in memories of Philipp's cooking skills ...

Beautiful Switzerland

Dear Friends and Family,

The wonderful time I was allowed to enjoy in Switzerland became richer, the more friends I could meet. So on a sunny Sunday morning my friend Hans and I went to Zurich to meet some more. On the way there, these wonderful pictures were taken just from within the car. The drive was so beautiful that we could have taken numerous more, but those few should give you an impression.

Returning to St.Gallen

Liebe Freunde nah und fern,

ich hoffe Euch allen geht es sehr gut. Nach den Silvesterfeierlichkeiten in Freiburg, durfte ich ein paar Tage in der Schweiz verbringen. Die Rückkehr nach St.Gallen ist mit gutem Wetter, vor allem aber mit der wertvollen Gesellschaft von Hans und Silke ungemein versüßt worden. Es war so schön nach längerer Zeit noch einmal an die alte Wirkungsstätte zurückzukehren und das Leben mit meinen Freunden zu geniessen. Die Bilder die ich mit Euch teile stammen aus der schönen Altstadt St.Gallens, die meisten werden sich erinnern...

Ich freue mich schon sehr auf meinen nächsten Besuch im Mai!
